Why Does T-Test Assume Equal Variance? [Solved]
Very simple answer: if you assume that two groups are coming from the sample population, you need the proper sampling distribution for this case. So you construct a null hypothesis with “equal variances”. There is only one population, so there is only one variance. Both samples are used to estimate this one variance.16 May 2017
